Let us introduce ourselves
He Writes…
Welcome to our website, Langan Writes. My name is Mike Langan, and my wife is Kathy Langan. We have both dabbled in writing at one point or another in our lives. We’ve decided to try something new.
This introduction will also serve as the first edition of HE WROTE/SHE WROTE where we both write our views/perspective on an issue or story of the day.
A clever take on He Said/She Said. Kinda clever anyway.
We have been married since that wonderful day in 2007, my first and her second. Kathy has an adult son, Korey, my stepson. We live in Greensboro, NC. I’ve been here over 31 years and Kathy for over 20 years.
We hope with this website to offer up positive thoughts and maybe a laugh or two along the way. To be diverse, we have decided to have friends and family to join with us. Many of you WILL be contacted with a writing assignment. Be on the lookout.
We do want to keep politics OUT, you can get that in MANY other places.
Finally (for now), we wish to thank our friend Dave Horton at DaveHortonAds.com for our LOGO design and his encouragement.
Thank you, and good writing!
She Writes…
Welcome to Langan Writes!
<–As hubs writes, we both have dabbled in writing. Seems like it was just a few years ago I was editor of my Junior High School Newspaper. And then co-editor of my High School Newspaper. Next thing I knew, I was a writer and copy editor at The Daily Texan, the student newspaper of The University of Texas at Austin. I also had the opportunity to write for The Believer’s Guide, a now-defunct Christian magazine in Austin, TX. Fast forward a few dozen years and I’m ready to get creative again!
With the pandemic (yes, every new story will begin with that line!), we really felt a loss of community and our world became smaller. This is where the concept of Langan Writes began.
We have some very creative friends between the two of us. I miss the huge dinner parties at Charlie & Ruth’s (shout out to Peculiar People!) when, after displaying their extremely talented cooking, they would give their guests the stage to read poetry, play an instrument, ponder life, and just, well, be themselves in a creative environment.
